Secure Container Release in production for 100 days & our vision for the future
Today we are proud that Secure Container Release is 100 days in production, making the release process of thousands of import containers secure and efficient.
By providing a pin code free alternative, we protect hundreds of users that manage the container import flows in our Port, every day. We make it more convenient to login and sign every transaction, offering an app that features bank-grade security. With just one click, we make it more manageable to transfer pick-up rights over a highly secure network.
As a team, it makes us incredibly proud to be one of the first startups, worldwide, that made our vision - based on decentralized technologies such as blockchain - work in the real world.
For the last three years, we have been working on this, day and night. Together with MSC Belgium, we pioneered with a proof-of-concept, back in 2017. Since then, we have invested heavily in making the solution production-ready. Today, Secure Container Release provides a complete package including a simple-to-use web-app, API for integrated automation, an advanced governance module, a fully documented support portal, and a dedicated support team.
We are proud that our partners have acknowledged our vision of a more secure and efficient port. We are onboarding new companies and users every day. Some leading companies in the Port of Antwerp have adopted the Secure Container Release app, amongst others:
But it doesn’t stop here. Our journey to make ports more safe, smart & efficient is just getting started. Our core vision is centred on developing technologies that both facilitate and protect what is becoming more and more of value in the era of digitization: the sharing of data.
In many industries, data sharing has become a buzzword. Sharing more data with other players in the supply chain yields significant returns in terms of efficiency and even creates entirely new business opportunities.
But data sharing doesn’t come without risks. Who manages and accesses my data? Who owns my information? Who protects my identity? Who makes sure my activities aren’t monitored? Who will ensure my sensitive commercial data is adequately protected and who can guarantee my privacy?
Two things need to be considered thoroughly in order to capture the real value of data.
First, technology. Investing in new technology can create additional leverage for our ports. Both proven & new technology needs to be considered to explore new solutions on how to make our processes more secure & resilient. But also on building new - data-driven - business models.
Second, and equally important is setting up a proper governance model. Technology, on its own, will only create new issues - referring to highly asymmetrical business models of traditional centralized tech-incumbents - for which we need to remediate accordingly. Specifically for security-related applications, governments and authorities can be a driving force. A good governance model combines B2B requirements with providing visibility to authorities.
With Secure Container Release, being now in full production, we have set the first step towards more advanced collaboration between ports, terminals, logistical service providers, hauliers, etc. - even on an international level. Furthermore, we are working on distributed applications that cut paperwork for carriers, optimize terminal throughput, provide more visibility and flexibility for freight forwarders, generate time-savings for transporters, and so one.
Although we are ambitious, we can not do this on our own. Our vision is to be a leading technology provider that facilitates and protects data sharing - making open innovation possible for business solution providers.
Today, we repeat our call for strong, united & futureproof collaboration between all stakeholders of the maritime and logistics industry.
We are ready to take your call!
